Division of Non-Public Education

What We Do

The North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education exists by authority of G.S. 115C-553, 561, 563(b) and 566(a) to administer the requirements of Article 39, Chapter 115C of the North Carolina General Statutes which govern non-public schools (both conventional private schools and home schools). The Division registers and monitors all non-public schools in accordance with Article 39, Chapter 115C, currently consisting of over 96,000 home schools and 845 conventional private schools in the state.
