Soliciting bids for the purchase and relocation of four homes

Event Description



The State of North Carolina and East Carolina University, located in Greenville, North Carolina will be accepting sealed bids for the purchase and relocation of four homes currently owned by the University. These homes are noted below and are located in the historic district of the city:

404 South Jarvis Street, built in 1935, square footage 1434, tax parcel 0007746






405 South Summit Street, built in 1923, square footage 1472, tax parcel 0007745






407 South Summit Street, built in 1940, square footage 1356, tax parcel 0004901






409 South Summit Street, built in 1913, square footage 1144, tax parcel 0004904






All homes are wooden structure with brick and or siding.
Note: The University has conducted a hazardous materials assessment on all four homes. There are hazardous materials associated with each home, flooring, HVAC duct tape, insulation, roofing, caulking and siding. It will be the responsibly of the buyer to remove any and all hazardous materials that will be disturbed during the disassembling prior to relocating the home or homes. Any hazardous materials not disturbed during the disassembling will not be required to be removed. All hazardous materials removal must be performed per the State of North Carolina
Health and Human Services rules and regulations associated with hazardous materials removal.

 Only the house and any attached garage/storage type structure, on each property is being offered for sale and relocation through sealed bids. Each home is sold “As Is” with no warranty. Other structures will remain on the property.
 The Buyer is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits required to disassemble and relocate the home/s including hazardous materials removal. Each home will be moved as one structure or disassembled in sections if needed and each section moved accordingly. This also includes working with the city to coordinate times for street closures and scheduling police detail during transport on city streets.
 The Buyer is not responsible for cleaning the lot after the home/s have been removed from the property.
 The Buyer may remove any obstacles or structures that may impend the removal of the home and have these remain on the property.
 The Buyer will be required to work with the University designated project manager to schedule moving the home/s. Preferred moving times would be during winter break in December (three weeks) or after the first week in May thru the first of August 2018. These designated times would not impede the normal university day to day operations.
 The Buyer shall be responsible for the cost of repairing any and all damages to City and University property during the disassembling and relocating of the home/s to include but not limited to sidewalks, streets, curbs, publicly owned trees and any other publicly owned structures.
 The Buyer is required to identify a potential structure moving company with knowledge and experience in moving structures of this nature.
 All utilities will be severed prior to any work or disassembling taking place.
 The “Sales Transaction” of the home/s must be completed prior to any work or disassembling beginning.
 The Buyer will be responsible for any and all cost associated with disassembling and relocating the home/s.


Note: The University will be providing relocation assistance in the amount of $5000.00 per home.
The award of the sale of the home/s will be to the highest responsive bidder and which bid is in the best interest of the University.


Sealed bids will be accepted until 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 9, 2017 and opened.
