RFQ for Progressive Design-Build Services for the Irwin Basin Sewer Capacity Upgrades Project

No

5100 Brookshire Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28216

The main project is to replace/upsize approximately 14,000-15,000 linear feet of gravity sewer in the Irwin Basin, specifically from Remount Road to the Irwin interceptor as shown in the project map (Exhibit 2). Stantec Consulting Services is currently developing routing alternatives. This study will be completed by September 2020 and will present multiple options to the selected design-build team on how to reroute the sewer lines in question. In addition to this study, flow monitoring has been completed in the basin by Frazier Engineering over the last several years. Charlotte Water has defined some, but not all of the project requirements in the below scope:
a. Currently the pipelines vary in size from 8-inch to 12-inch. Due to the TOD rezoning and increasing growth in the area, the pipelines will need to be resized to accommodate future flow from development.
b. Rerouting of the current sewer system around Distribution Street may take place due to trying to eliminate easement acquisitions, thus expediting construction.
c. Project will, at a minimum, have a hand tunneling/jack and bore under Interstate-77 ending inside of the Revolution Golf Course.
d. The proposed sewer lines will be connected to either a 36-inch sewer line or a 54-inch sewer line.

*HUB certified vendors/contractors are encouraged to submit a bid for this project. *
