NC Department of Administration's State Construction Office Hosts 38th Annual State Construction Conference Governor Cooper Among the List of Speakers for This Year's Event

On March 28, 2019, the NC Department of Administration’s State Construction Office will host its annual conference at the NC State University McKimmon Center in Raleigh. Governor Roy Cooper is among the list of speakers for this year’s event. More than 1,000 construction professionals from across the state are expected to attend this full-day conference which will include informational break-out sessions and an awards ceremony.

The conference is held each year to bring engineers, architects, contractors and state property stakeholders together for a day of networking and to learn about the latest industry updates and best practices. Break-out sessions will include trade licensing requirements, hurricane disaster recovery efforts and more. The conference also recognizes professionals for excellence in the construction industry. Accolades include the HUB Recognition, Certificate of Merit and the Frank B. Turner Awards. The conference will conclude with the annual Contractor’s Networking Reception and Expo hosted by the Department of Administration’s Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses.

Established in 1957, the Department of Administration acts as the business manager for North Carolina state government. Under the leadership of Secretary Machelle Sanders since appointed by Governor Roy Cooper in 2017, the department oversees Government Operations such as building construction, purchasing and contracting for goods and services, managing state vehicles, acquiring and disposing of real property, and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property.
