U.S. and NC Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Wake County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ned Byrd Beginning immediately until sunset August 15, 2022

Governor Roy Cooper ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to half-staff in honor of Wake County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ned Byrd who was killed in the line of duty overnight. Details are still emerging as the investigation continues into the incident along Battle Bridge Road in southern Wake County.

“We’re deeply grateful for Wake County Deputy Ned Byrd’s service to our state. Our prayers and condolences are with his friends and family,” said Governor Roy Cooper.
