U.S. and NC Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jackson Forringer Beginning immediately until sunset May 6, 2023

Governor Roy Cooper ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to half-staff beginning immediately until sunset Saturday, May 6, in honor of U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jackson Forringer who died during training in California on April 20, 2023. Lance Cpl. Forringer was assigned to the 2nd Marine Regiment at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He joined the Marine Corps in July 2021.

Services for Lance Cpl. Forringer will be held on Saturday, May 6, in Chesnee, South Carolina.

"Our hearts are with the family, friends and service members at Camp Lejeune as we mourn the loss of U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jackson Forringer. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to those who keep our communities safe both here and abroad."

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are also encouraged to fly flags at half-staff for the duration of time indicated.
